We will build and produce the winning design for an “in-person” drawing on Avnet Tech Games Game Day April 10, 2010.

Teams compete to design the best all-around Microsoft Windows™ 7 computer solution for a specific scenario. After being provided with the game scenario and requirements – teams are given a few weeks to design on paper a proposal that would solve the specific scenario. Teams then submit their proposal by the deadline where they are then judged using specific criteria. The winning design will be built and, at the Avnet Tech Games event on April 10, 2010 a drawing will be held and a lucky winner will take the $2,700 gaming computer system home. The winning team members win scholarships.

Proposal Creation ExperienceEvent Description:
By Friday, November 6, 2009 registered student teams will be provided with the following:
Game scenario
Suggested items required for proposal
Any game changes to the rules or expectations
Judges Scoring Criteria SheetA one-hour conference call will be scheduled on Friday, November 13, 2009 and will be open for all teams to attend. Student teams will have an opportunity to obtain further information on Avnet’s requirements. Students should be ready to ask questions that will help refine the proposal requirements. Students will also have the option to ask further questions via a blog site and will have a contact at Avnet that will field those questions. Listen to the recorded conference call.
Student teams will then have until December 18, 2009 to prepare their final proposal. All entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. Arizona time on December 18, 2009. Avnet will then begin the judging of the entries.
The winner will be announced in January 2010 and then Avnet will have the winning design built and on display at the Avnet Tech Games on April 10, 2010. In addition a drawing will be held to give away the winning design in person on game day in April 2010.
The winning team members will each win $1,000 scholarships.
Technical Parameters:
Game is a virtual online game only.
Students, Faculty and Schools are not required to purchase any equipment.
Avnet reserves the right to modify or make changes to this game or the rules of this game at any time.
The only thing required by the deadline is a written proposal with the teams design information.
Final scores are determined using a criteria scoring sheet that will be provided upon the start of the competition.
Final winner is determined by having all entries judged using a scoring sheet – highest score wins.
Final entry proposal MUST include links to current pricing and availability of all items in the design so that judges can verify pricing and can order the equipment if the team is chosen as the winner.
Game scenario will have a maximum budget – teams must design a solution that can be purchased without going over that budget.
Teams are capped at a maximum of 2 people.Schedule:
