This virtual event will provide students with the opportunity to develop a Google Android App that will be judged based on a predefined set of criteria. Google's Android operating system and Open API are the latest new technology in this space.
Learn more >>This is an exciting event combining video production skills, environmental awareness and marketing skills. The student teams will create a short video (maximum length 4 minutes) on the environmental initiatives at their college that is designed to promote environmental awareness.

Learn more >>Participants will create and document a working digital design in a Xilinx FPGA. Student teams will create a working digital design with a focus on quality and thoroughness of the design documentation, which demonstrates the disciplined synthesis of ideas and design methodology.
Learn more >>Teams will compete to design the best all-around example of an engaging digital signage application. The interface can be done in Silverlight, Flash, HTML or whatever … it just needs to be able to run on Windows 7. Digital Signage can include viewer touch interaction, camera recognition and integrate with handheld via QR Codes.

Who can build, tune and troubleshoot the fastest computer? Teams compete in three different events--"Build it Fast," a timed event on building a computer the fastest; "Troubleshoot it Fast," a timed event on troubleshooting a computer the fastest; and 'Tune it Fast," a competition to build and tune the computer to a set level of performance. Experience in computer design, assembly, repair and tuning is required.
Learn more >>Teams will design and demonstrate a digital design to achieve a specific set of criteria revealed at the starting time. Students will demonstrate their work, write and present a technical presentation. This event is an on-site event held on April 14, 2012 only.
Learn more >>Students will quickly and efficiently build a working data network using provided network diagram, cabling, patch panels, switches and racks. The game demonstrates the student team’s understanding of data networking and cabling skills.
Learn more >>Each team will have five hours to build and program a robot using a LEGO Mindstorms® NXT 2.0 (8547) robot kit provided by Avnet. The robot is built to complete two different table challenges. First table: A line following maze will award points based on the total distance and time achieved by the robot. Second table: A maze course that provides points when the robot performs up to 3 task(s) and/or navigates sections of the course.

Learn more >>Develop and present a proposal to bring an aging legacy data center forward into a model Green Data Center. Students will be provided a case study and the legacy data center data for analysis. Teams can leverage Internet resources, white papers, research studies, to support their proposed direction. The winning team will be the one who maximizes the green efficiency of the data center with the most innovative solutions within the game parameters.

Learn more >>Student teams will be given 2 switches and 1 router to perform the full OSI model deployment. The task will include the initial physical setup, layer 2 switching and Layer 3 inter Vlan routing, Once operational each teams network will be broken at layer 1, 2 or 3 and will need troubleshooting to repair the network.Teams will work to secure their network and prepare for a competition practice attack.
