Spring 2012 Cisco Expert Battle
Student teams will be given 2 switches and 1 router to perform the full OSI model deployment. The task will include the initial physical setup, layer 2 switching and Layer 3 inter Vlan routing, Once operational each teams network will be broken at layer 1, 2 or 3 and will need troubleshooting to repair the network.Teams will work to secure their network and prepare for a competition practice attack.

Registration is Open
Student teams will be provided with a kit containing:
- Switch Model
- Router Model
- System Architecture
- Vlan names and ports
- Technical assumptions
- Target Audience
- Implementation Timelines
- Grading criteria
- Email addresses for sending any questions
A 30-minute conference call will be scheduled and will be open for all teams to attend. Student teams will have an opportunity to obtain further information. Students will also have the option to ask further questions via email and will have a contact at Avnet that will field those questions.
Parameters
End product must include:
- Final report to cover technical, architectural and running configuration
- Reflect a realistic 3-5 year architectural model
- Convey the message, provide compelling reason for someone to implement the architecture, call to action
- Provide the activities and how the project was managed
Schedule
7am - 8am -- Registration
8:30am – 11:30am -- Teams build the systems and configure the inter Vlan routing (Judging initial configuration)
11:30am – 12:30pm -- Break the configuration – Layer 1, 2 or 3
12:30 - 1:30 pm -- Repair the configuration (Judge fix)
1:30pm – 3:30pm -- Present Models
3:00pm – 4:00pm – Identify Winner & Network Hour (Student/Faculty/Administration/Industry)
4:00 – 5:00pm Awards Reception
