Spring 2012 Green Video Competition

This is an exciting event combining video production skills, environmental awareness and marketing skills.  The student teams will create a short video (maximum length 4 minutes) on the environmental initiatives at their college that is designed to promote environmental awareness.

Event Description


By  March 15, 2012  registered student teams will be provided with the following materials regarding the video:



  • Key Messages regarding Avnet Tech Games

  • Purpose and Expectations for the video

  • Judging criteria

  • Technical specifications for the video

  • Rules and expectations for the game

  • Blog site for sending questions

  • Avnet  logos

NOTE:  Prior to receiving the packet all team members will need to sign a document indicating that all provided materials and the resulting product are the property of Avnet Inc. and cannot be reused for any purposes if not explicitly approved by Avnet.  And all submitted materials comply with copyright requirements.


A one-hour toll-free conference call will be scheduled on March 15, 2012  and will be open for all teams to attend.  Student teams will have an opportunity to obtain further information on Avnet’s requirements.  Students should be ready to ask questions that will help refine what Avnet expects students to achieve with this video.  Students will also have the option to ask further questions via a blog site and will have a contact at Avnet that will field those questions.


Student teams will then have until March 28, 2012  to prepare the video.  All video entries must be submitted by 5PM Arizona time on March 28th, 2012..     


All videos will receive a preliminary review to insure compliance with the published rules of this competition and all videos meeting those requirements will be posted to the Avnet On Demand video portal.


The winning team will be announced on April 14, 2012.


Parameters


Submitted video must:



  • be no longer than 4 minutes (no minimum) 

  • comply with the published rules of this competition

  • reflect the environmental values of the student’s college or university

  • convey a compelling message that raises environmental awareness

  • demonstrates overall quality of workmanship in editing

  • be interesting

  • have smooth flowing transitions and audio levels

  • use graphic materials

  • effectively highlight the use of technology

  • addresses the college’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint
